Artifacts: Reflection for ITEC 7400
Reflections:
The artifact that displays my mastery of standard 6.2 reflection is my blog entry that I completed at the end of my course ITEC 7400. This artifact was written and posted in my blog upon completion of the course during my first semester in this program.
In going back and rereading this blog, I feel that the introspection and thoughts that I shared about the concepts and new tools I’d learned in this course demonstrates my ability to regularly evaluate and reflect on my professional practice. ITEC 7400, 21st Century Teaching and learning is a course that introduces you to working with technology and students. It introduces you to the ISTE standards, LOTI levels, and authentic learning. This blog entry allowed me to reflect on the learning I did in that course exactly a year ago and at the time it also helped me to gather my thoughts and remember just what I was getting into.
In completing this reflective blog, I learned how important it is to take the time to contemplate experiences that you are making in these courses and put those thoughts down in writing. The act of doing this gives me perspective and helps me organize my thoughts about what I have completed. I wish that this was a practice that I had time to complete on a regular basis and that I could incorporate into my teaching. It really cements the learning for me as a student and I believe it could do the same for others.
My reflective blog impacted my learning and I hope that in time I can help teachers use this type of reflection to impact their learning and their students learning. To assess the impact that reflection creates for students and teachers would depend on the purpose of the reflecting.
