Standard 6.3 Field Experiences
Candidates engage in appropriate field experiences to synthesize and apply the content and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions identified in these standards. (PSC 6.3)
Artifact: ITEC 7400 Structured Field Log
Reflection:
The artifact that I have chosen to demonstrate my mastery of standard 6.3 field experiences is my STRUCTURED Field Experience Log & Reflection from ITEC7400 21st Cen Teaching & Learning. This log reflects my ability to synthesize and apply what I learned in this course and collaborate with another teacher to produce a quality engaged learning project.
This artifact demonstrates how I used ISTE-C and PCS standards to create a lesson that is engaging and authentic. I learned the skills to assess engaged learner indicators and I created a lesson that included as many of these indicators as possible. The field log reflects the activities that I completed and the standards that support the activities.
The standards that I think this lesson best exemplify and that are contained in this field log, are visionary leadership; teaching, learning, and assessments; and digital age learning environments. Each of these standards is reflected in activities such as collaboration , lesson creation, and creating blended learning content for engagement.
In completing this field log and documenting my field experiences I was able to make the connections of the activities I was participating in with the standards that I was using. I was able to see the learning I had made in this course come together to create an authentic learning experience. I also was able to see that there are a few standards that I misrepresented in this log. I created this log during my first semester and many of these standards were words more than practices back then. Now I see the error in my ways and I now understand what those words look like in practice.
The creation of this field log impacted student and teacher learning. It helped me make sure I was using the standards to support my lesson and work. The impact can be assessed by the final projects the students created when they completed the lesson that this field log documents.
